Farmers Market

Waterfront Farmers Market - June - September
Saturdays 10am-2pm & Wednesdays 4pm-8pm

The Des Moines Farmers Market and Food Truck Saturdays runs June through September and Wednesdays July - August. The Des Moines Waterfront Farmers Market was formed in 2006 as a non-profit entity, unique among the local farmers markets by requiring all of its farmers to meet a basic set of environmental stewardship principles that ensure their farming practices protect the environment while sustaining the long term viability of farmland. These practices include protecting water quality, using natural methods of pest control, preventing soil loss, conserving energy, using water conservation measures, protecting fish and wildlife habitat and enhancing genetic diversity.

Des Moines Parks, Recreation and Senior Services hosts out door movie night in the Des Moines Beach Park meadow twice in August. Poverty Bay Brews and Blues

Poverty Bay Brews and Blues – August 26th 2017

The Des Moines Rotary Club unites you to attend the annual Poverty Bay Blues and Brews Fest. This event is the prime fundraiser for our Music4Life program, expanding music to youth in our local schools. Enjoy a day filled with local blues and a variety of fine brews from local breweries. To complement your blues and brews, there will be barbecued bratwursts and B&E Market's famous tri tip for your dining enjoyment. The festival will be located on the shores of Puget Sound at the Des Moines Beach Park. This is an outdoor event and will be held rain or shine. You must be 21 or older to attend and no pets will be allowed inside the event.

Poverty Bay Arts Gala

Poverty Bay Arts Gala – September 22nd 2017

Come enjoy art at the local level during September! This Gala will raise fund for the Des Moines Arts Commission's annual events such as Shakespeare in the Park, The Beach Concert Series, Squid-A –Rama and the Poverty Bay Sculpture Project.

Des Moines Halloween Carnival

Des Moines Halloween Carnival – October 31st 2017

This event is 5-8pm at the Des Moines Field House 1000 S. 220th Street. Frights and games for children 12 and under. Children under the age of 5 must be accompanied by an adult. $5 per child. Des Moines Tree Lighting – December 1st 2017

The first Friday of December marks the date for the annual Holiday Tree lighting event in the Des Moines Marina district. Destination Des Moines brings in sponsors to host this free community event with cookies, hot cocoa, caroling, Elementary School Band performance, and photos with Santa.

Argosy Christmas Ships

Argosy Christmas Ships and Bon Fires on the Beach - December TBD

Holiday traditions in the Northwest start on the water with Argosy Cruises. The Argosy Cruises Christmas Ship festival is a holiday celebration that has been a Pacific Northwest tradition since 1949. Every year, the Argosy Christmas Ship sails to different Puget Sound waterfront communities, over 45 in total. Choirs onboard sing 20-minute performances to these communities, all broadcast via state-of-the-art speaker system. On shore, thousands of people gather around roaring bonfires anticipating the arrival of the Christmas Ship

The Des Moines Rotary Club invites you to the annual Poverty Bay Wine Festival. Kids under 5 free. There will be a dog parade, prizes awarded for best costume, smile, tail wag etc. Prizes for best aerial Frisbee catch, best time on obstacle course and more! Dive around the Clock

Dive Around the Clock – July 21st and 22nd 2017

The mission of Dive Around the Clock (DATC) is to bring together the scuba diving community for an annual 24-hour scuba diving relay dive-a-thon charity event with the aim of educating and raising awareness about childhood cancer and to raise funds, benefiting Children's Cancer Research, to be used to advance medical research into the diagnosis, treatment and cure of childhood cancers.
